I'm sending this from the Valley View Hospital in Glenwood. This afternoon I was

in a car accident (not my fault). A literally crazy gal hit me in the

driver's door doing about 70-80 and I was going the opposite way at about

35. I drove off the road to avoid her when she was aimed right at me and she

still tagged me real good and I was a good 20 feet into the ditch when she

hit me. I was on the south frontage road of I-70 between New Castle and Silt

westbound and she was eastbound on I-70. I saw this car fly off the

interstate at a high rate of speed. My first impression was it would flip

when it hit the frontage road but somehow she got it straightened out and

pointed down the proper lane of the 2 lane frontage road but then she took

aim at me and I started going to the right as an evasive action so at least

I avoided a head on. I have to wonder if she wasn't trying to commit

suicide. She had just been released from the state mental hospital in

Pueblo yesterday. She told the CHP trooper she was trying to avoid deamons!

Once she gets out of here I think she will be back to the funny farm.

I've got a bruised heart and partially collapsed lung and lots of aches.

They are going to keep me here at least overnight and do another ultrasound

of the heart tomorrow (echo cardiogram). My heart was doing some extra beats

and pulse and BP off the wall but things are getting better so I don't get

my first ever helicopter ride to Denver. I'd rather not be in a litter when

ever I do take that first ride

My car is totalled, the frame is bent I think every window broke. My seat

belt pulled out of the floor attachment and I bent up the steering wheel. My

Blazer was an earlier 94 without an airbag. Later 94's had them as well my next

vehicle.

Bob and Sue Ludtke came down and brought me a HT so I'm on the 146.88 ham

repeater. When I get out of here, I'm going to pick up a rental car and go

to where my car was towed to in Rifle and get my belongings including my

clear lense prescription glasses (hopefully, they are still in the car but

lots of stuff got thrown out thru the broken windows), check book and all

the stuff in the back I was hauling down to the new place. They did pull out

my laptop that I'm on now. Someome found my prescription sunglasses in the

grass beside the car. If there are spelling errors it is because I don't

have my eyes on.

I was walking around taking names and numbers of witnesses (about 10-12

that said she had been doing over 100, maybe 120 MPH and passing people on

the left and right. Once the medics arrived, they put me in a neck brace and

backboard and hauled me here. I'm now in Acute Care room 219B, 970-945-6535.
