Phil NØKE saved by ham license plate

Phil
NØKE writes from Valley View Hospital in Glenwood about a car
accident caused by another driver. A literally insane gal hit Phil in
the driver's door doing about 70-80 mph when he was going the opposite
way at about 35 mph. He drove off the road to avoid her when she was
aimed right at Phil. As you can see from some of the accident
photos, she still tagged Phil despite his having been a good 20 feet
into the ditch when she hit him. Phil NØKE was on the south
frontage road of I-70 between New Castle and Silt Westbound. She was
eastbound on I-70. Phil reports that he saw this car fly off the
interstate at a high rate of speed. His first impression was it would
flip when it hit the frontage road but somehow she got it straightened
out and pointed down the proper lane of the 2 lane frontage road.
Then she took aim at Phil. He started going to the right as an
evasive action so at least he could avoid a head-on
collision. There were no signs of skid marks before she hit
Phil! Was she trying to commit suicide? She had just been
released from the state mental hospital in Pueblo yesterday. She
told the CHP trooper she was trying to avoid demons! One only hopes
that once released, she will be returned to the mental hospital and
they will be much more reticent to release her again! A
preliminary report has Phil with a bruised heart, partially collapsed
lung, bruises and lots of aches. His heart was doing some extra beats
and pulse and BP off the wall but things are getting better. Phil
doesn’t want my first ever helicopter ride to Denver in a litter!
Phil’s car has been totally destroyed, including every window broken,
the frame bent, the seat belt pulled out of the floor attachment, and a
bent up steering wheel. The was an earlier Blazer without an airbag.
Later 94's had them as well Phil’s next vehicle! Despite the
severity of the accident, Phil was able to get the names and numbers of
10-12 witnesses who said she had been doing over 100, maybe 120 mph and
passing people on the left and right. Once the medics arrived, they put
Phil in a neck brace and backboard and hauled me here.
Someone said Phil’s ham license plate NØKE saved him. If so, we had better take seriously Gary’s WØTM’s humorous suggestion of putting all his saved ham plates from the last 40+ years on his Jeep!
